Is Metallic Magnetic?

Magnetism in metals arises from the unpaired electrons in their atomic orbitals. Ferromagnetic metals, such as iron, nickel, and cobalt, have a strong magnetic field because their unpaired electrons align in the same direction. Paramagnetic metals, like aluminum and platinum, have a weaker magnetic field as their unpaired electrons do not align consistently, while diamagnetic metals, such as gold and copper, have no net magnetic field as their electrons pair up, canceling each other’s magnetic properties.
